Public and private transport providers are sure to harness the power of social media more often in the future. It is a way to build good will and keep customers informed along the way. Most people are constantly tuned into social media through their mobile devices so it makes good sense.

Our study of tweets by transportation providers throughout the New York region during the summer of 2012 free instagram followers and likes showed a wide disparity in proportions of service information, engagement and marketing posts between different agencies:
