Visualization: The Economies of the World

Today's visualization is another entry in the The Guardian Datastore's economic recovery competition. Created by Courtney Griffith and Jonathan Schwabish, "The Economies of the World" on visual.ly illustrates unemployment and GDP trends in various countries over the last several years.

this looks pretty bad for the US! In fact the current picture seems slightly more rosy for the US, and worse for Europe. A quick look shows that the chart data could be over 2 years old ... for the most recent unemployment stats I turn to (the not always reliable but quickly accessible) Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_unemployment_rate
